Teaching and LearningThe Children’s House follows the Montessori philosophy of learning, based on self-directed activity, hands on learning and collaborative play. Through teacher observation, careful plans are created to follow the child’s needs and interests. Children work individually, in groups or with the teacher. Each classroom is designed to meet the needs of a specific age range Preschool (2.5 to 6 years) Lower Primary School (6 to 9 years) Upper Primary School (9 to 12 years). Maria Montessori observed that children learn best in a non-competitive environment, where self-motivated children form positive images of themselves as confident successful people. The curriculum flows continuously from Preschool to Primary, as children progress, learn and develop their achievements form the foundations for later learning. The specifically designed Montessori materials are used by the children to gain deep understandings, all of which are closely linked to the British National Curriculum
